Anima and Animus

There is a concept, created by Carl Jung, that we all have a contra-sexual (opposite gender) energy or archetype within us.
For men this is called the Anima and is his 'inner feminine' and for the female this is her Animus, her 'inner masculine'.
This archetype is responsible for how we relate to the opposite sex and this energy within ourselves, and is very influenced by our childhood experiences of our mother or father.
Many spiritual works speak of the sacred or divine union or marriage, which is essentially the integration and merging of these two energetic polarities in ourselves.
This is also the goal of alchemy.
.
Our inner beloved can guide us into the depths of our soul,
teasing out our creativity, passion and purpose.
They assist our deepening into our bodies, sensuality and intimacy with Self and other.
They call us into absolute integrity, accountability, and authority...
Asking us to take up the throne with them.

Our dreams can help us bridge the gap between our conscious self and our anima or animus;
showing us where our relationship is at, dynamics and patterns that are playing out and traumas that we hold.
In turn, this bridges the gap between us and 'other'; helping bring our outer relationships into harmony and allowing us to meet the opposite gender deeply, clearly and authentically.
Pay attention to how the opposite gender shows up in dreams, especially as lovers and parents.
Relationship patterns and cycles can be fixed from within by examining and healing our anima/animus relationship.
