" A dinosaur is coming "

My niece has been saying this a lot recently... as an invitation to play but also when certain emotions come up.
A beautiful illustration of the dreaming mind's capacity to take in the world around us and shape it into symbolic imagery-
My dream from a few nights ago
.
.
I am in a wild location where dinosaurs live along with tribal people.
Most of the dinosaurs can be lived with- setting boundaries and fighting them off.
But not the T-Rex
A fearful atmosphere descends as we hear him coming.
Everyone lines up to be inspected by him..
He's going to choose someone to eat.
I am trying to hide my niece behind me but I know this will make him angry and more likely to choose her.
I look at her innocence and beauty and am terrified for her life.
I decide to sacrifice myself in place of her and spend the rest of the dream trying to find a safe place to hide from the T-Rex.
I try a cave that seems like it will fit only me and hide in the shadows, only to find his size changes to fit inside.
I know there is a place that will work- a rock temple formed into the earth's rock that will hold him off, with a small entrance only I can get into.
But I just cant get there... I pass through many crumbling houses and potential places but that just aren't strong enough.
In the end I jump into the ocean thinking I can escape- only to find there is a huge crocodile-like dinosaur in there.
I wake up.
.
.
The dinosaur in this dream?
An aspect of my shadow.
A huge, tyrannical shadow that scares and threatens other parts of me into submission.
What if I decided to stop running?
What if I attempted to understand and transform this image?
We can work that way with the intense and scary images from our dreams,
Even after the dream itself- going back into the dreamspace in our imagination and exploring,
Or maybe even dialoguing with that aspect of ourselves.
Personally I loved this dream and found it rather fun (upon waking)...
I find it so fascinating to see how the mind creates these stories and characters to send us a message,
All whilst activating that age old part of the psyche that is inthralled by drama, excitement and myth.
