Caring for the Inner Child in Dreams

This morning I dreamt of an adoption/rescue centre full of old dogs and young boys...
The 'lost boys'...
It's time for them to sleep and I take a child in my arms, Cradling him and stroking his head,
And I sing to him.
The song is 'Hushabye Mountain' from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
All the boys curl up around me and fall asleep listening to the song
As an exquisite mix of tenderness and grief fills my heart. . . . In dreams we have the opportunity to call back, meet and interact with many parts of ourselves.
In this dream, I find the lost parts of my inner child
Waiting to be adopted back into my being.
Masculine in nature and forsaken in exchange for false security, strength and independence
;
They long for the love, nurturing and care of the mother and father.
To be accepted and wanted for who they are. . . . This is also a collective dream.
The lost boys are a collective archetype, illustrative of what happens to the inner child when we are told to
Grow up,
Be strong,
Man up.
The child doesn't just mature and dissappear, but is sent away into the recesses of the unconscious,
Left alone to pine and starve.
Until we remember... . . When we have the courage to face the pain,
only then are we ready to bring the love that the inner child needs.
This love knows the strength it takes to be vulnerable.
This love can hold and be held through the unbearable weight of the world.
This love does not run away. . . The truth is that the child can never grow up without this love.
But once they do, they have the power to move mountains,
With the unwavering courage, determination and strength of the heart. . . So listen to this song...
Welcome your child home into your arms... . . Their love can heal the world. . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SJAouBCKHo
