Initiation In Dreams.

Dream sequences of initiations and rituals reflect our shifting, growing and evolving.
The psyche represents inner transformation and progression with ideas and images that we associate with growth.
But sometimes these images are unfamiliar and seem to come from deeper roots...
From cultural or ancestral rites that illustrate what we're going through.
Dreaming of these give the Self a sense of completeness,
as you unconsciously connect and undergo the completion of the initiation without actually having to do it physically. . . . This morning I dreamt that I was drawing a face tattoo on a male friend-
A line down the centre of his chin... which then progressed to a line down the centre of his entire face.
In this dream he represented my inner masculine counterpart. . . Chin tattoos of this type are seen in cultures all around the world; Berber, Bedouin, Amazigh, Maori, Cree, Inuit...
They are done on women to represent the stages of their life;
The first being the beginning of periods and fertility. . . . At this time I am really dropping old stories around intimacy and relating, and deeply connecting to my animus or inner male energy.
I feel this dream brought a ritual to that;
to the integration and union with my inner masculine.
In drawing this line on him, I not only illustrated the idea of our polarity- by splitting the two sides of the face- but also the containment of those two within one being.
I portrayed the fertility of this inner connection, and the ripeness for stepping into the next stage.
I also think that I invited and initiated my inner masculine into his next level of growth-
beyond adolescence and childlike inherited behaviours and beliefs,
and into a more individualised, clear and full expression of the masculine.
The ritual was playful.
And at the end he kissed me; transferring the tattoo on to my face as well.
Thus joining us in this transition;
Welcoming me into my fertility, desire and womanhood
And readiness to form deeper relationship to myself and others, based in maturity, authenticity, integrity,
and Love.
